Why should I consider green and cream for my family photos or event?

Besides the fact that it rhymes, you mean? The green and cream (or white) color scheme is the more modern, slightly cooler, just as chic little sister to light blue and white. Still very much a classic look, green and cream is a bit more fun and can even be playful. It’s also unexpected, showcasing your taste and ability to coordinate! Think of green and cream as the Upper West Sider, and blue and white as the Upper East Sider - both sophisticated New York women!

How do I do it?

If you’re planning this color scheme for your family, consider the overall vibe and how you will tie it all together. There are ample shades of green and shades of cream - so it does take a bit of planning to ensure the colors are all grounded similarly. You’ll find greens that are grounded more in blue, greens that are grounded more in yellow. Green can be soft and light, or can be rich and deep - like an emerald. 

When and where is this outfit color scheme appropriate?

Green and white outfits for families can look very preppy for an outdoor event or photos, but make sure you don’t take it too far - that’s where swapping white for cream really elevates the whole look. This color scheme is especially fitting for spring and summer photos and events, though the white/cream could be swapped for a metallic gold for a festive holiday look (more on that later). You’ll see throughout the week that I’ve incorporated gold to continue to elevate these looks. Perfect for family photos because of the color saturation, but also for chic events, do consider the outdoor backdrop of your events and photos as well - you don’t want to look like you’re going to the golf course.
